Activities and Lodging around MIT

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is comprised of one college and fives schools and strongly emphasizes technological and scientific research. 

MIT enrolls roughly 10,000 students yearly, including both undergraduate and postgraduate scholars. 

Those who travel to Massachusetts to visit MIT in the hopes of enrollment there can find excellent lodging nearby. Hotels near MIT range both in price and style. One can find hotels such as the Le Meridien Cambridge and Hotel Commonwealth (two of those most distinguished hotels in Massachusetts) just down the street from MIT. Le Meredien is eight stories high and is a very modern, high tech place to stay while visiting MIT.

While on the flipside, Hotel Commonwealth, one of the hotels near MIT, is an aging, beautiful brownstone. This hotel in Massachusetts is also conveniently located near Fenway Park.

Some popular places to visit when you travel to Massachusetts are: Harvard Square, which is home to Harvard University. There is access to Boston from Harvard Square as it is on the Red Line. Cambridge Common is a place to picnic, watch an amateur ballgame, lay out in the sun. There are war memorials here and Civil War statues.

Travel to Memorial Hall and visit Sander’s Theater, a beautiful theater that holds many classical music concerts. Built in 1877, the building is a memorial for fallen Civil War soldiers.

Other hotels in Massachusetts include Irving House B&B, a charming bed and breakfast near both MIT and Harvard University. While staying here why not check out the Fogg Art Museum, this museum owns a collection of art that goes as far back as the Middle Ages, to modern day.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Travel here to visit the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Botanical Museum and the Mineralogical and Geological Museum.
